A May 2010 dinner for Mexican President Felipe Calderón cost nearly $1 million, or $4,700 per attendee. Three other state dinners cost in excess of $500,000 apiece. Darrel Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has called upon Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to document what Issa calls “excessively lavish” state dinners.
