Britain to Filter Out Porn

The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister David Cameron is cracking down on internet porn. Starting from January 2014, all broadband internet connections from the UK’s four ISPs (Virgin, Talk Talk, Sky and BT) will come with filter technology known as ‘default-on’ pre-installed. Default-on will see ISPs block pornography automatically. Only account holders who opt out will be able to access porn. H/T Next Media Animation

Extinction — A Dodo’s Guide

British animator Asa Lucander created this short chronology charting the course of mass extinctions — from the dinosaurs to the dodo bird. First Bananas, Then the World

Comprised of public domain footage and stop-motion animation, Yann Gorriz’s All About Bananas Et Cetera is ostensibly a seven-minute film about bananas. But, as the tongue-in-cheek title indicates, this is a film that’s actually about a bit more than that. Through the use of dry narration and repetitive editing techniques, Gorriz crafts a visual, introspective piece about structure and classification.

Tiny Gribbles: Energy Dynamos

They’re tiny crustaceans, less than 3 millimeters in size, and can destroy seaside piers. But gribbles are being hailed as the key to a new generation of liquid fuels. Channel 4 in Great Britain reports.

White Flight from London

Growing ethnic tension is leading to the white population shrinking in some parts of the United Kingdom, including the British capital of London. RT’s Sara Firth has more on the exodus — and what else might be behind it.

British Killer Linked to al-Qaeda

One of the two men arrested on suspicion of murdering a British soldier in London was arrested in Kenya in 2010 and arraigned in court before the Kenyan government deported him back to the United Kingdom. Michael Adebolajo was accused in Kenya of seeking training with al-Qaeda-linked militant group al-Shabaab in Somalia.

Bushido

A samurai summons his meditative powers before drawing a sword and honing his reflexes by bringing the cold steel quickly to bear against a single leaf floating to the ground. Much as the samurai finds the many minute veins in the leaf, animator Said Ibrahim showcases a wide array of drawing styles in this graduation short he created as a student at Staffordshire University in Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom. England In State of Shock

Great Britain is coming to terms with the brutal slaying of a British soldier on a London street in an attack after which one of the perpetrators addressed a video camera saying ‘an eye for an eye…you people will never be safe,’ claiming the act of terror was a reprisal for British interference in the affairs of Muslim countries.

Terror in Woolwich

Channel 4’s Home Affairs Correspondent in Great Britain, Darshna Soni, looks at how events unfolded in Woolwich through the eyes of those on the street who were caught up in it all, and witnessed Islamic extremists ramming and then hacking up a British soldier with meat cleavers.

Meanwhile, the radical Muslim cleric who taught and influenced the terrorists — former Al-Muhajiroun leader Anjem Choudary — refused to accept any personal responsibility for the bizarre and brutal murder, seeking instead to blame the British government because it has sent troops to fight in Afghanistan. The question remains: Why isn’t Choudary rotting in a jail cell? He’s nothing more than a common thug and criminal masquerading as a cleric.

Bikini Jelly Wrestling Banned

The bikini jelly party held every year at Great Britain’s Cambridge University has been cancelled this year. The all-male drinking society, the Wyverns, usually recruits two female students to wrestle with each other, and the winner receives money as a prize.
