A would-be robber experienced chili burn when a fast food restaurant employee in Sydney, Australia, threw hot chili sauce in his face. A drunken Tyrone Holmwood, 24, reportedly became enraged when presented with the bill for his three medium salads. Rather than paying, he chose instead to help himself to the cash register, strike the server, overturn salads and generally go beserk.
Australia’s Adam Garone has an impressive moustache, and it’s for a good cause. A co-founder of Movember, Garone’s initiative to raise awareness for men’s health — by having men grow out their moustaches every November — began as a dare in a bar in 2003. Now, it’s a worldwide movement that raised $126 million for prostate cancer research last year.
Australian radio personalities Fitzy and Wippa are on a roll. Earlier this week, we showcased their comic song explaining nuances of the Aussie language for the benefit of visiting US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. Now, they’re back with a romantic ballad that will either leave you in stitches or else get your goat.

Circus performer, showgirl and burlesque artist, Strawberry Siren won the coveted Miss Burlesque Australia award in 2011. Hailing from Melbourne, she calls her style of performance “Cirlesque.” She’s acrobatic and also a shade dangerous. Wrote the Australian Stage, “Strawberry Siren stands out with her good looks and peculiar but hypnotic brand of Burlesque tease.”

Australian astronomer and popular scientist Fred Watson explains the significance behind Russia’s rare meteor strike and the Earth’s close encounter with an asteroid happening so close together. Known by the cheeky nickname “Her Royal Hiney,” Australia’s Imogen Kelly is the world’s Reigning Queen of Burlesque, being so crowned in 2012 by the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. She’s the first queen from Australia and only the second from outside North America, following in the footsteps of Immodesty Blaize. Before embarking on a career in burlesque, Imogen studied to become a circus artist, and she continues to incorporate many high-flying aerial routines in her shows. Her act is highly visual, with many elaborate costumes and props. Among many other claims to fame, she shares the world’s record for the largest custard pie fight.

Sydney-based Danica Lee was awarded 2011 Miss Australia Burlesque after winning a triple-crown at that year’s Australian Burlesque Festival — Entertainer of the Year, Miss Classic and Miss Congeniality.
