Call Me Stormy

Finding righteous currents in turbulent times

Still Water

This is one of the most amazing student-drawn animations you’ll ever see. Not only is the storytelling quite accomplished, but the work is exceptionally beautiful and painterly in its look. Natalie David Esphani created it in 2011 as her graduation film at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel, receiving a strong assist from composer Dan Karger.

The premise: A desperate fisherman trolls from morning to night, but all he ever catches are discarded boots. This puts a strain on his relationship with his supportive wife.
